What if someone told you to jump off a cliff?  What would you say?  Now, what would you do if God asked?  He doesn’t mean to literally jump off a cliff, but He is asking if you trust Him. It’s easy to follow when the possibilities pose little risk to us, but are you obedient during times of pain and uncertainty?

Brent Southcombe, a world-class chef,  shared his own journey about listening to and trusting in God. Although there are times when you feel you aren’t where you are supposed to be in life, if you trust in His guidance, you will be taken on a “wild ride” that is meant to touch the lives of others.

What may seem like random encounters with people are not random at all. We are meant to help others fulfill their own journeys. Our own path and those of others resemble pieces of a large puzzle that only God fully understands.

Sometimes the path is rough, taking us through many mistakes and failures. Brent was infused with a dream to help train refugees how to cook.  His experiences led him through hard times, which appeared to lead him further and further from his dream.  Because he trusted God’s voice, Brent was rewarded with opportunities which fulfilled his own dream. The blessings Brent received were far beyond what he ever dreamed of; blessings always follow obedience.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths. – Proverbs 3: 5-6 (HCSB)
